Pin It! Do It! Done! Metallic Letters!
Do you love Pinterest as much as I do??? I have enjoyed pinning crafts, recipes, wishes, and tutorials! But…I had this massive list of things I wanted to do and I wasn’t getting any of them done! I’ve set out to try to actually do a few things I like and I’m going to share them here with you in my Pin It! Do It! Done! posts.
Here’s the original pin:

I loved the look of these aluminum-look letters from Life as a Thrifter, so I pinned them and planned them for my son’s room. I picked up my letters at HL and a can of “hammered” metallic paint from one of our local home improvement stores. I’m amazed at what a little spray paint can do! I didn’t sand mine, leaving the texture of the “hammered” metal. I mounted them with 3M strips. Love those things!
That’s one project off my Pinterest to-do list!
And they’re off…
Back to School!
2nd grade and 5th grade! Yikes!
I remember 5th grade so clearly. Mr. Foster, Mrs. Gatti, and Mrs. Crocker. It was the year I learned about cuss words and teachers that spit and band. Ah…middle school. 🙂 So grateful that 5th grade is still elementary school here!
Here’s a little round-up of our back-to-school activities:
PTA back-to-school breakfast for teachers flowers
Lunch box treats
(#1, #2, #3, #4 covered in tape from here)
Obligatory 1st day of school pictures
It’s up to You

First Day of School Checklist
Here’s what I know:
- School starts in 4 days!
- The 7-year-old thinks he knows it all.
- The 7-year-old doesn’t know it all, but is excellent with a check-list.
- The 10-year-old is too cool for check-lists.
- Too bad for the 10-year-old.
- I will be writing “Clean Teeth” in one of our blanks because if it isn’t on the list, the 7-year-old won’t do it!
If you need a copy of this “First Day of School Checklist”, you can find it here. Use it, love it, share it, don’t sell it. Thanks!
Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend
Thank you Rex…
for being her babysitter,
for being his backup in water gun wars,
for letting me know when the meter readers were in the neighborhood,
for eating the hotdogs we drop on the ground,
for alerting us to the UPS guy,
for chasing bubbles and bones,
for keeping us from campfires and strangers,
for being our pal and buddy for the last 10 years!
In the words of my sweet little boy tonight: Thank you God for creating Rex to live with us.
24 Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
