Hey Y'all! I'm Salinda. Welcome to my little piece of the South. I'm a sewing instructor and the seamstress behind PersonaliTy Children's Clothes. I'm crazy in love with my hubby and Momma to 2 spunky swimmers! I'm addicted to Sonic Cokes, my New Orleans Saints, and Jesus!

A weekend in Jackson, Mississippi

**A Disclaimer:  I really hope that I don’t bore/irritate/bug you with stories of my children.  It’s just that my Aunt Jo reads the blog for updates (Hi Aunt Jo!) and I need to brag on the kids for her!**

Momma, the kids, and I headed to Jackson, Mississippi for the weekend.  The kids swam at MAKOS Invitational Long Course meet (that means a 50 meter pool).  Both the kids had personal best times all weekend.

100_2162 The Boy surprised a few people, even his coaches, with his best swims ever.  (Just don’t look too closely at his dives at the start of the races!  He’ll get better—one day!)

100_0744His sister had some amazing distance swims:  400m, 200m, etc.  She earned her very first state cut with her 200m freestyle swim.  Looks like we’ll be at the Louisiana State Meet in July!

2012-05-05 After our Saturday morning swims, we headed out to Mississippi’s Museum of Natural Science.  If you ever find yourself in Jackson, go here.  Seriously.  This museum had some wonderful aquarium exhibits, tons of native wildlife dioramas, really short and shady outdoor trails, and even some dinosaur bones (for the 7 year old!).  The Big Girl snapped lots and lots of great photos!

When you’ve had all the fun you can handle at the museum, go eat at Primo’s.  So yummy.  Hot plate lunches and a bakery.  What else can you ask for????

May is Here!

Wow!  It’s May!  Our spring has been so busy, and now summer is just around the corner!

After a winter and spring full of sewing seersucker and gingham, I’m excited to have a few moments to slow down.  I’ve spent some time catching up on blogs and discovering new favorite places to read!

I’ve decided to join a new blog challenge this month and I wanted to shared it with you:

Book%2BCover%2Bwith%2B31%2BDays[1]

I find myself grumbling-a lot!  Especially at the end of the day when everyone is tired and hungry.  In 2 days, I’ve switched my little reminder bracelet between arms so many times that I keep thinking it will just pop off!

Do you have a grumbling spirit like me?  Join me for this challenge.

Funeral Food

The hours after Adam’s Granny’s funeral were filled with fellowship and laughter, play and stories.  She would have loved seeing all 14 of the great-grands out on the gym floor chasing balls and each other.  She would have laughed with her grandchildren as all 6 of the cousins shared stories of raising their children, reminding them how each acted the same way.  She would have been proud to know that the ladies of her church blessed us with such hospitality.

What is it that makes the meal after a funeral so delicious anyway?  While I’m certain the ladies at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church are wonderful cooks, I have a feeling that their fried chicken had a few special ingredients.  Love and Prayer.  The ladies set out a simple meal with pasta salad, mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and fried chicken that filled our extended family with much more than just nourishment.

Thank you ladies of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Sardis, Arkansas for blessing us with a wonderful meal and a time to relax and visit, remembering Granny just a bit longer.
