The kids and I participated in the “Be My Valentine Children’s Swap” hosted by Beth. Our partners were Rachel and her 3 kiddos. Look at all the goodies they sent!
I think the kids were most exited about the cake mix with sprinkles in it. Plus we received cupcake cups, icing, sprinkles, window clings, a book, colors and a coloring book, a foam craft set, a notepad, pencils, jewelry kits, and handmade Valentines. And, just for me, a box of the most wonderful candies and nuts. Yummy!
We sent them a mommy apron and 3 coordinating kid aprons, a cupcake pan, cookie cutters, craft goodies, ponytail holders, penny pockets, and Mardi Gras beads. You can see their goodies here.
Thanks Rachel and family! We loved all our goodies! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yes, I do remember that I promised this some time ago. And, without further ado, here is my wardrobe plan: Not much to look at, is it? I have made a fancy wardrobe plan storyboard using Adobe, a rough wardrobe plan on notebook paper, a wardrobe with only the foggiest notion of a plan in my mind, and now I’m using this method!
I had 3 goals:
Stash only –fabric and patterns!
Must have more casual pieces than dress-up pieces
I would do my best to make each piece work with the piece I finished just before and just after it!
So, I sat down on the carpet surrounded by fabric swatches and patterns. And this was the outcome:
4 casual tops,
1 dressy top,
1 shirt dress,
1 knit dress,
1 pair of jeans,
1 pair of city shorts,
1 pair linen casual pants,
1 cute everyday pants,
1 dressy skirt,
1 navy blue pants suit and
a great purse!
I’ve finished the silver linen pants and it will probably take me another 3 months to finish the rest!
During this time of economic crisis, I fear the demands placed on one long-standing tradition will soon cause its collapse. As you work with Congress to create stimulus packages and bail-outs for companies, I implore you not to forget an industry that has brought happiness and joy to millions of children throughout time–the Tooth Fairy.
At the current rate of 6 teeth in one year, our Local TF19 has declared that pay-outs of $1.00 a tooth will have to end. To avoid a loss of quality and ensure that the quota of joy is ensured, the Local TF19 is requesting to be included in your current stimulus package before Congress.
We are requesting a minimum bail-out package of $34.00. This money will not be spent on corporate jets, office decor, or CEO bonuses, but will merely cover the remaining baby teeth in our household. Please note that this current pay-out rate is significantly less than the pay-out of $2.00 per tooth by the Local TF21 and the rumors of $5.00 or even $10.00 per tooth by Local TF72.
Well, I finally got around to looking at the new Vogue patterns. There are a few I like–and a lot that look like the same ol‘ thing! Here are my picks:
V1086: Cute dress. It is casual enough for my life. Would it make my rectangle figure look like an hour glass?
V1087: I like this one a lot, but I don’t know if I’d have anywhere to wear it.
V1097: I really like this coat. I think it would be casual enough to fit in my wardrobe. The question then becomes “Do we have enough cold days to make it worth my time.”
V8557: I like these sleeves.
V8568: These bags are a little big for my taste, but I love the way they look RTW. Maybe I should steal a few ideas (like the hardware).
V8561: I don’t usually like Marcy Tilton, but these pants look comfy, casual and cute.
V1098: You can’t really tell from this picture, but this jacket has the cutest detail on the back! I don’t know if it’d complement my figure, but I love the back yoke and the sleeves.
ps. everybody else: This is Lazy Girl Designs #111-Runaround Bag. It takes 2 fat quarters, a very small bit of batting, a zipper (I used a 9 inch) and less than 1 hour. You can carry it across your chest and it is large enough to tote a wallet, your cellphone, a lipstick, and maybe one or two more small items. I highly recommend it!
